About Angelina Ratnesh

Angelina comes from a first-generation Christian family. Her father has epilepsy, preventing him from working. Limited by her illiteracy, Angelina's mother works intermittent jobs cleaning houses and doing other menial labor. However, her husband's frequent seizures require consistent attention, keeping Angelina's mother from working often enough to adequately provide for her three children. As low-caste Indians, Angelina's family is trapped in a dangerous cycle of poverty and barred from economic upward mobility by social structures.

Despite these barriers, Angelina's parents prayed that their daughter would have a better future. God answered their prayers through the Mercy Home. Since coming to live at the Mercy Home, Angelina's future has taken a dramatically different shape. Instead of scavenging for food, she now attends a quality school and gets three hearty meals a day (plus snacks!). Her favorite dish is spicy chicken curry with rice. Influenced by her father's illness, Angelina hopes to attend nursing college when she is older, so she can help others with chronic sickness. She is a diligent student and enjoys reading. Most importantly, she attends church weekly and is growing in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ.

Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Angelina!
