About Amit Katara
Amit lives with his parents and one sister in a small mud hut in a village in Western India. This area is in a valley that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals. They are blessed to have the water well not too far from their home.
Amit comes from a Christian family; they attend church each Sunday and have a daily family Bible reading and prayer time. His father is an unskilled laborer, which means he gets arduous jobs at construction sites or in agricultural fields for a little pay. His mother is a homemaker and Amit helps her with household chores. Amit wants to become a teacher one day. He enjoys dancing along with playing Sitoliya, an Indian game in which opponents try to knock down the opposing tower of stones and tag the other team members out while they reassemble the pile. His favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, chicken, and chapatti. Amit needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Amit!
