About Aayushi Dass
Aayushi was born into a labor class family; after her father's death, she was treated poorly by her joint extended family members, even though she was earning money for the family working in the fields since childhood. Finally, a neighbor suggested to her mother that she should be sent to Mercy Home to avoid further exploitation and ensure a better future. Aayushi is very happy here. Her favorite subject is English and her favorite Bible story is the parable of prodigal son. She loves summertime and enjoys eating rice and dal (split pea soup). The Bible verse she finds most encouraging for her own life is, 'Do not be afraid, have faith, the plans I have for you is for your good.' Aayushi is a good student who loves to sing praises of God. She loves roses, bananas, and cuckoo birds. She wants to show the world that she is capable of doing equally good things than the boys who are given much more importance in village honors.
